In a massive blow to the esports giant, six major content creators—Adapt, Jason, Ronaldo, Lacy, Rage, and Silky—simultaneously severed ties with FaZe Clan after months of unsuccessful contract renegotiations with the organization’s new leadership.
Mass Exodus Clears Out FaZe Clan’s Active Roster
As Bloomberg reports, the departing group represents the entire active talent lineup featured on FaZe Clan’s official website. The collective exit marks a dramatic turning point for the brand’s public-facing roster.
Among those departing is veteran creator Adapt, who wrote on X about his departure after spending 14 years with the organization. “Over half of my life, I’d be lying if I said this didn’t hurt, but it had to be done,” Adapt shared.
Internal frustration within the creator ranks has been brewing for months. Another member who departed earlier in August characterized the internal environment as one where influencers felt they had “no control, and it’s like we’re puppets.”
Contract Stalemates and Leadership Friction
The creator departures follow roughly six months of continuous negotiations between the influencers, investor HardScope, and FaZe Clan CEO Matt Kalish. Despite losing his primary talent roster, Kalish confirmed his intention to operate the organization moving forward.
“My best guess is they’re all good kids and have a lot of people in their ear and are confused,” Kalish told Bloomberg, defending the management stance and maintaining that the organization’s prior financial structure was fundamentally “unsustainable.”
A History of Corporate Instability
This talent walkout is the latest in a series of turbulent financial and structural shifts for the brand. FaZe Clan initially went public in 2022 amid high valuations, but mounting losses forced an acquisition by GameSquare for $17 million the following year, an event during which its CEO was fired.
