Roblox Adds TikTok Feed, AI Tools, and Developer Pay Bump

On Friday at the Roblox Developers Conference, online gaming giant Roblox unveiled “Roblox Moments”—a new TikTok-style short-form video feed—alongside higher creator payouts, real-time voice translation, and advanced generative AI tools designed to enhance platform engagement and monetization.

Introducing Roblox Moments: Gameplay Clip Sharing

The headline feature, “Roblox Moments,” is a scrollable short-form video feed launching in beta for users aged 13 and older. The tool allows players to record gameplay clips up to 30 seconds long, edit them with music and captions, and share them directly to the community feed. Viewers can react to clips using emojis and jump directly into the featured experience straight from the video player.

Later this year, Roblox will launch API capabilities enabling developers to build custom discovery systems inside their games. Creators can utilize these tools to showcase community highlights, highlight trending video clips, or display custom leaderboards for achievements like top racing overtakes.

Roblox is rolling out the feature gradually to test content moderation safeguards. All videos require pre-posting approval to ensure content remains age-appropriate, alongside user reporting options.

Higher DevEx Cash-Out Rates for Creators

Roblox announced an 8.5% rate increase for its Developer Exchange (DevEx) system. Creators converting earned Robux to fiat currency will now receive $380 per 100,000 Robux, up from the previous $350 rate.

According to figures provided to TechCrunch, the average annual revenue for developers in the platform’s Top 1000 reached nearly $1 million—representing a 2.9-fold increase compared to 2020 levels.

Generative AI Tools and Real-Time Voice Translation

Roblox is expanding its suite of generative AI development capabilities. Rather than generating static assets, creators can now generate fully dynamic, functional 3D objects, starting with functional vehicles and weapons. A prompt like “a sleek, futuristic red sports car” will generate an interactive, drivable vehicle with modifiable mechanics, such as operational doors.

Communication tools are also getting an upgrade. A real-time voice chat translation feature will launch next year, automatically translating spoken audio into the listener’s native language across English, Spanish, French, and German.

Text-to-Speech and Speech-to-Text APIs

Roblox introduced new text-to-speech and speech-to-text APIs to increase interactive gameplay depth:

  • Text-to-Speech API: Enables real-time character dialogue and narration, offering 10 customizable English voice presets tailored for non-playable characters (NPCs).
  • Speech-to-Text API: Supports voice command inputs, allowing players to execute gameplay actions—such as shouting “Fire!” to trigger a cannon—directly through voice.

Engine Performance and Anti-Cheat Upgrades

On the engine side, Roblox introduced “Server Authority,” a architectural mode engineered to reduce in-game cheating while processing physics interactions with higher fidelity. Avatar movements will also gain updated physics mechanics, featuring realistic momentum for running, climbing, vaulting, and fine-grained finger articulation for grabbing objects.

Performance optimizations will automatically boost graphical fidelity across low-end and high-end hardware, eliminating the need for creators to manually configure optimization settings for different device tiers.

These conference announcements coincide with broader platform adjustments, including expanded age-estimation tech and an official partnership with the International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) to implement standardized content ratings as Roblox faces ongoing legal scrutiny regarding child safety.
