On Thursday, Amazon officially launched a major overhaul of its cloud gaming service, Amazon Luna, rolling out smartphone-controlled party games to Prime members at no additional cost to transform living-room multiplayer gaming.
Introducing GameNight: Turn Smartphones into Controllers
The centerpiece of this platform overhaul is GameNight, a brand-new hub featuring over 25 local multiplayer titles. Amazon engineered the feature specifically to bring groups together in shared physical spaces by eliminating the need for expensive consoles or dedicated gamepads.
By transforming any iOS or Android smartphone into an active controller, Amazon aims to make Luna the primary entertainment center for social gatherings and casual game nights.
“GameNight takes even further the idea of easy access that’s core to the new Luna, delivering a collection of incredibly fun and approachable games that absolutely shine when played together with friends and family,” said Jeff Gattis, general manager of Amazon Luna, in an official press release. “Anyone with a smartphone can dive right in and have a blast, regardless of their gaming abilities.”
Exclusive Titles and Party Classics
GameNight debuts with exclusive content produced directly by Amazon Game Studios. Heading the roster is “Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg,” an interactive, AI-driven improv experience. Players fabricate outrageous personas and construct wild narratives to defend their testimonies live in front of a digital Judge Snoop Dogg.
Alongside this headline title, the GameNight library incorporates a varied mix of casual, puzzle, and digital board games, including:
- “Angry Birds Flock Party”
- “Draw & Guess”
- “The Jackbox Party Pack 9”
- “Ticket to Ride”
- “Exploding Kittens 2”
- “Clue”
- “Tetris Effect: Connected”
New Blockbusters and the Luna Premium Upgrade
Beyond party experiences, the updated Amazon Luna catalog now expands its standard game streaming offering with high-profile releases. Prime subscribers gain access to major blockbuster games, including “Hogwarts Legacy,” “Indiana Jones and the Great Circle,” “Kingdom Come: Deliverance II,” and “TopSpin 2K25.” Unlike the GameNight collection, these traditional gaming titles require a standard game controller or a traditional keyboard and mouse setup.
For gamers seeking an expanded selection, the company introduced Luna Premium—rebranding its previous subscription tier, Luna+. Priced at $9.99 per month, Luna Premium grants expanded access to top-tier AAA titles, such as “EA SPORTS FC 25,” “Star Wars Jedi: Survivor,” and “Batman: Arkham Knight.”
