Apple TV+ is officially ending its workplace comedy Mythic Quest after four seasons, debuting a newly re-edited version of its Season 4 finale next week to provide a proper conclusion following its original March 26 broadcast.
An Unprecedented Approach to Series Conclusions
Television audiences frequently deal with the frustration of abrupt cancellations, making it a welcome relief when creators get the opportunity to wrap up storylines through an abbreviated final season, a TV movie, or extra scenes added to an already-filmed episode. However, Apple TV+ is taking an exceptionally rare route by altering an episode that had already aired to serve as the de facto series finale.
A Final Farewell from the Showrunners
Addressing the decision in a statement provided to Variety, executive producers Megan Ganz, David Hornsby, and Rob McElhenney explained the motivation behind the update, noting that “with Apple’s blessing we made one final update to our last episode — so we could say goodbye, instead of just game over.”
